Housing Related Matters

Housing disputes aren’t just about paperwork, they affect homes, property, and livelihoods. Whether it’s a rental conflict, an unfair property assessment, or housing-related human rights issues, Retained Legal Services provides advocacy that protects people where it matters most.

Rental Disputes: Landlord & Tenant Board (LTB)

The LTB resolves conflicts between landlords and tenants under the Residential Tenancies Act. Retained Legal Services represents both landlords and tenants in:

  • Non-payment of rent and arrears

  • Lease terminations and eviction applications

  • Maintenance and repair disputes

  • Illegal evictions or harassment

  • Applications for tenant rights (T2, T6, etc.)

  • Enforcement of LTB orders and judgments

Property Tax & Assessment: Assessment Review Board (ARB)

When property values are overstated or misclassified, it means unfair taxation. Retained Legal Services helps clients challenge MPAC assessments and classification decisions before the ARB to reduce costs and correct records.

Housing & Human Rights

Everyone has the right to safe, accessible, and fair housing. Retained Legal Services represents clients before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario in cases involving:

  • Discrimination in housing (family status, disability, income source, etc.)

  • Accessibility and accommodation disputes

  • Harassment or interference with the right to housing

Why Housing Matters Deserve Advocacy

Housing isn’t optional,  it’s fundamental. Disputes in this area often carry financial, emotional, and personal stakes that reach far beyond the law. Retained Legal Services vets every case to ensure it is legally sound and then provides straightforward, practical advocacy to secure fair outcomes.

No jargon. No false hope. Just advocacy that protects your home, your property, and your rights.
